Request a quoteA practical alternative to draining and refilling
When your pool needs to be emptied for relining, structural repairs or major refurbishment, draining the water is often the most expensive and wasteful part of the job. Chosen Pools offers temporary water storage bladders that hold your existing pool water on-site while we work, then return it to the pool once we’re done.
It’s a practical solution for Gauteng property owners who want to avoid the cost of refilling, the strain on municipal supply, and the time it takes to rebalance fresh water before the pool can be used again.
- Hold your existing water on-site during the project
- 40,000-litre capacity per bladder
- Two units available for larger jobs or simultaneous projects
- Returned, refilled and rebalanced in days, not weeks
Common Bladder Applications
Storage bladders are most useful for any pool job that requires the pool to be empty. Five typical use cases.
Marbelite Resurfacing
The pool needs to be drained for several days while the new finish is applied and cured. A bladder holds your treated water in the meantime.
Fibreglass Relining
Fibreglass relining requires a fully dry, prepared shell. Hire a bladder for the duration and put the same water back when the work is done.
Structural & Crack Repairs
Cracks, tile work and waterline repairs all need the pool empty. Bladder hire avoids the cost of drain-and-refill on every repair.
Major Renovations
Conversions, structural upgrades and combined repair jobs benefit most. Keep weeks of treated water rather than dump and start over.
Water Restrictions
During Gauteng water restrictions, refilling a 40,000-litre pool may not be permitted. A bladder lets the work go ahead inside the rules.
Our Bladder Hire Process
A four-step process from site assessment through return. Most projects are in and out within one to three weeks.
Site Assessment
We confirm your pool’s volume and check the property for a flat, accessible area large enough to hold the bladder.
Setup & Transfer
The bladder is laid out on the cleared surface, connected to the pool, and pool water is pumped across before work begins.
Repair / Renovation
The repair, resurfacing or renovation work is carried out on the empty pool. Most jobs run between three days and three weeks.
Return & Removal
Water is pumped back into the finished pool, the bladder is drained and removed, and the site is left clean.
Save the water you’ve already paid for, and the cost of refilling, on every renovation.
Chosen Pools – established 2001Residential & Commercial Pools
Bladder hire works for any property where a pool needs to come offline temporarily. We arrange storage and transfer for:
- Private residential pools
- Estates, complexes and shared facilities
- Hotels, lodges and guesthouses
- Schools, clubs and commercial properties
For larger commercial pools, both bladders can be deployed in parallel for up to 80,000 litres of combined storage.
Things to Know in Advance
Bladder hire is straightforward, but there are a few practical points to plan around:
- Space. Bladders need a flat, clear area roughly 1.5 to 2 times the bladder’s footprint, allowing for setup, hoses and access.
- Load. A full 40,000-litre bladder weighs around 40 tonnes. We assess surface suitability as part of the site visit.
- Duration. Most projects need the bladder for a few days to a few weeks. Hire is priced accordingly.
- Water condition. We recommend balancing the pool water and topping up sanitiser if storage is going to run beyond a week.
