What we do

Pool lighting that works well and lasts

Good pool lighting extends the hours you can use your pool and makes the water visible and safe after dark. LED pool lights have largely replaced halogen and incandescent fittings – they last significantly longer, use a fraction of the electricity and do not run hot.

We install new pool lights in new construction, retrofit LED lights into existing niche fittings, and repair or replace lights that have failed. We work with established brands that are well-supported in South Africa and carry local stock for common fittings and spares.

What we install

Pool Lighting Options

LED is the baseline for new installations. The main choice is between single white, colour-changing, and how many fittings your pool needs.

Most popular

LED White Pool Lights

Clean, bright white LED lights for pools where function matters more than ambience. Use a fraction of the energy of old halogen fittings and last far longer. Astral LumiPlus and Speck Specktralight Aqua are common fittings with good South African stock availability.

Colour-changing

RGB Colour-Changing Pool Lights

Multi-colour LED fittings that cycle through or hold a chosen colour. Popular for entertainment areas and show pools. Astral LumiPlus RGB and Speck Specktralight colour models both fit into standard 140mm PAR56 niches, making retrofits straightforward on most existing pools.

Retrofit

LED Retrofits

Replace old halogen or incandescent fittings with LED without breaking out the niche. Most South African pools use a 140mm or 270mm niche – LED retro-fit modules from Speck and Astral are designed to fit directly. No major pool work required.

Repairs

Pool Light Repairs

Failed bulbs, cracked lenses, water ingress into the fitting and cable faults are the most common pool lighting failures. We diagnose and repair, or advise on replacement where the fitting is no longer serviceable or parts are not available.

Fibre optic

Fibre Optic Pool Lighting

Fibre optic fittings keep all electrical components outside the pool, with only the inert fibre strands in the water. An option worth considering for pools near borehole water or where earth leakage is a concern. We install and repair fibre optic systems.

How we work

Our Pool Lighting Process

New installation, retrofit or repair – the approach is the same: assess first, quote clearly, install correctly.

01

Site Assessment

We check your existing niche size, conduit and cable run, transformer and earth leakage setup. For new builds, we work from the construction plans. The assessment determines the right fitting and confirms what site preparation is needed.

02

Fitting Specification & Quote

We confirm the fitting, transformer rating, cable spec and number of lights required for your pool. Written quote provided before any work begins.

03

Installation

Fitting seated and sealed in the niche, cables run and terminated, transformer installed and tested. For RGB fittings, the controller is wired and programmed. All work done to SANS electrical standards.

04

Test & Handover

Earth leakage verified, light tested in water and handed over. For colour systems, the remote or controller is demonstrated. We explain basic maintenance – lens cleaning, seal checks and how to identify a cable fault vs a failed fitting.

A well-lit pool is a pool that gets used after sunset. That is the point.

LED vs halogen

Why LED is the right choice for pool lighting in SA

The older halogen PAR56 fittings ran at 300-500W and needed replacing every 12-18 months. A modern LED fitting doing the same job runs at 15-35W and a quality unit will last 5-10 years in normal conditions.

In South Africa, where pool lights often run off a timer for 4-6 hours a night, the running cost difference adds up. LED also runs cool, which reduces thermal stress on the gaskets and lens seals that keep water out of the electrical components.

  • Local stock availability – Astral, Speck and Pentair all have SA distribution
  • 12V operation is standard on most SA residential pools – safe and compatible with most existing transformers
  • Retrofit compatibility – 140mm PAR56 niche is the SA standard; most LED units drop straight in
  • Colour-changing adds entertainment value with no additional plumbing or niche work
Who we serve

Residential & Commercial Pool Lighting

We install pool lighting for:

  • Private homes and residential estates
  • Entertainment areas and show pools
  • Hotels, lodges and hospitality properties
  • Schools and sports clubs with after-hours use
  • Commercial and communal pools

Commercial pools and those used after dark by guests or members generally benefit from multiple fittings to achieve even illumination across the full pool floor. We position and spec fittings to cover the pool without creating dark zones.
