What we do

The right pump makes a real difference to your monthly bill

The pool pump is the biggest electricity consumer in most homes with a pool. A standard single-speed pump running 8 hours a day in Johannesburg can cost R1,800 to R2,500 per month in electricity alone. A variable speed or inverter pump doing the same job typically costs R350 to R500 per month.

We supply and install variable speed pumps, DC inverter pumps and solar pool pumps. We also repair and replace existing pumps when they fail. The brands we work with are well-established in South Africa and readily serviced locally.

  • Variable speed pump supply and installation
  • DC inverter pump supply and installation
  • Pump repairs and motor replacements
  • Pool pump sizing for new builds
  • Pump upgrades on existing pools
  • Pump integration with pool automation and timers
R2,100 Typical monthly cost – single-speed pump
R420 Typical monthly cost – variable speed pump
R1,680 Monthly saving – same pool, same hours
12-18 Months typical payback period
Pump types

Pool Pump Options

The pool pump market has moved significantly toward variable speed and inverter technology. Here is what each type offers and where it makes sense.

Most popular

Variable Speed Pumps

Adjust motor speed to match filtration demand. Run slower during off-peak filtration cycles, faster during cleaning. Brands installed in SA include Speck BADU Eco Touch, Pentair SuperFlo VS, Hayward TriStar VSTD and Zodiac FloPro VS. Savings of 60-80% over single-speed are typical.

Load-shedding friendly

DC Inverter Pumps

DC inverter pumps (Aquagem InverSilence, Speck BADU Eco Vision) draw 0.3-1.5kW at low speed – well within the capacity of most home inverter systems. Your pool keeps filtering through load shedding without a generator. Quieter than AC-motor pumps at lower speeds.

Legacy

Single-Speed Pumps

Standard single-speed pumps run at full power regardless of need. Still specified on new pools where budget is tight, but variable speed is increasingly the better long-term choice given electricity costs in Gauteng.

Pump repairs

Repairs & Replacements

Motor burnout, seal failures, impeller damage and basket cracking are the most common failures. We diagnose, repair where economical and replace when the pump has reached end of life. Most major brands have local parts availability.

New builds

Pump Sizing for New Pools

An oversized pump is as wasteful as an undersized one. We size the pump to your pool volume, pipe diameter, filter specifications and automation requirements – then specify the appropriate variable speed unit.

How we work

Our Pool Pump Process

Whether you need a repair, a replacement or a new installation, the process is straightforward.

01

Assessment

We inspect your existing pump, plumbing, filter and electrical setup. For new builds, we work from the pool specs. Repair vs replacement decision is made here, with clear reasoning given.

02

Specification & Quote

We specify the right pump, confirm parts availability and provide a written quote. For upgrades, we include estimated monthly running cost comparisons so you can judge the return on investment.

03

Installation or Repair

Pump is installed or repaired, plumbing connections made, electrical wiring checked and any automation or timer settings configured. We test under load before leaving.

04

Handover

Speed settings, run schedule and maintenance intervals explained. For variable speed pumps, we set recommended speed profiles for filtration, backwash and cleaning cycles.

The pool pump runs every day. Getting it right has more impact on your electricity bill than almost anything else.

Load shedding & energy costs

Why the SA market has moved to variable speed

Pool pumps are one of the largest electricity loads in a typical South African home. With Eskom tariffs increasing year on year, the case for variable speed and inverter pumps has become straightforward.

At low filtration speeds, a DC inverter pump draws 300-500W. A standard single-speed pump draws 1,100-1,500W continuously. The inverter pump is also quiet enough to run for longer periods during off-peak hours without disturbance.

  • Runs on home inverter during load shedding (0.3-1.5kW at low speed)
  • Quieter operation at low speed – suited to residential environments
  • Longer motor life from reduced thermal and mechanical stress
  • Local brand support – Speck, Baracuda, Aquagem and Pentair all have SA distribution and local parts
Who we serve

Residential & Commercial Pool Pumps

We supply and install pool pumps for:

  • Private homes and residential estates
  • Apartment complexes with communal pools
  • Schools and sports clubs
  • Hotels, guesthouses and hospitality properties
  • Commercial and municipal pools

Commercial pools often require higher flow rates and three-phase electrical supply. We specify accordingly and ensure the pump meets the bather load and turnover requirements of the installation.

Discuss Your Pool Pump Requirements

Whether you need a repair, a direct replacement or an upgrade to variable speed, we will assess your setup and give you a clear recommendation. Get in touch to arrange a visit.
